Some have said that God is too big to be missed. Yet, in Scripture, it is written, “you did not know the time of your visitation.” This is Jesus speaking these words (Luke 19:44). Jesus speaking about those in Jerusalem when He was right there with them, in the streets and the synagogues. Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us.
He is the One making this statement to God’s very own chosen people. They missed it. They missed HIM, the very God that is seemingly so big to some that He cannot be missed. Yet, they still missed the day of their visitation.
DON’T MISS YOURS!!
We are standing on the precipice of something big, a new thing…..a shift into a new era. A shift so BIG, so earth shattering…so enormous. It is much more than a tidal wave…more like a massive wall of water so tall, one stands in awe of its magnitude….yet without fear, just in awe and reverence. Like the walls of water standing against nature to make a path through the Red Sea for the Israelites to pass from bondage into freedom. Deliverance by the hand of God from slavery. Are you ready? Ready for your visitation to bring you into the new?
What is keeping you in bondage? What are you remaining a slave to?
Even with the incredible size of what is coming, I believe it can be missed. If it is truly that massive, you may be asking, “How can it be missed?” I think the answer to that lies in what has you still bound or in slavery. Remember the Israelites, after being rescued by God, remained in the wilderness for forty years. Forty years! Why? Because they did not fully comprehend their visitation…their deliverance in order to walk into their future. They were only acquainted with His acts. They did not truly know Him.
“He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the sons of Israel.” Ps. 103:7
They had unbelief that caused delay. Unbelief because they believed in the report of the spies that doubted they could overcome those in the promised land. Do not let unbelief keep you captive any longer. Again, we need to be ready….prepared like the virgins with oil waiting for the Bridegroom. We The Church…The Bride must be ready for the day of our visitation. Corporately, yes. But individually more so.
How do we know Him? How do we not miss our day of visitation? Where do we go from here so that we can be ready? How do we prepare for the shift? How do we become a new wineskin prepared for the new wine that is sure to be poured out in this new era?
Numerous things come to mind…so many things we could do or be doing. Yet, there is this one thing resonating in my spirit over and over and over again. THE one thing…..the thing that Jesus, Himself stated was needed. That one thing that Mary did, according to Luke 10…the thing she had chosen that was good. She chose to sit at His feet and hear His Word. Martha was busy, distracted with serving (see Luke 10:40), worried and troubled (see verse 41).
Now….now is the time, more than ever before to guard and protect our time at His feet. Our quiet devoted time with Him and Him alone….without distractions. Recall God’s revelation to Elijah in 1 Kings 19, when he was told to go out and stand on the mountain and wait for the Lord to pass by him? God was not in the strong and great wind. God was not in the earthquake or the fire. God was in a still small voice. A small voice can be missed if we are not seeking, if we are not listening. Oh, to be still and know that He is God!
A few weeks ago, my large clock above our mantle stopped. I informed my dear husband, who took it down, replaced the batteries, and reset it before hanging it back up. I had made a mental note regarding the the time displayed by the stopped hands…6:33. After it was hung back up, we took note that it was running again. The next morning, I noticed it had again stopped. I made another mental note and went about my morning. Two hours later, I noticed it had started working again without human intervention. But now, it was lagging by two hours until we reset it. Then, for the third and finally time, it ceased running. Every time it stopped, it stopped at the exact same time. This got my attention. So I paused and asked the Lord if there was any meaning to that exact time. Then I remembered the very first verse I ever hid in my heart….Matthew 6:33.
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
At that particular time in my life, there were many things happening. It was December 10, 2021 and we were planning, packing and preparing to travel for Christmas. In addition to that, my dear momma was in the hospital. I desperately needed to gain His perspective and focus on Him. I needed to do the one thing that Mary did and sit at His feet in order to refocus. If covid lockdowns had taught me anything of value, it was to guard and protect my intimacy with Him. To do what Jesus did. To seek solitude and be alone with the Father. It is only here that we can gain His perspective and see what He is doing and hear that still small voice….in the quiet, undistracted place alone with Him. Here is where we have ears to hear and eyes to see. Here is where we gain our footing to stand. Stand firm on the Word, both living and written, as our firm foundation. Stand strong against the schemes of the enemy that comes to steal, kill and destroy. Stand confidently in Who He is and Who we are because of Whose we are. We belong to Him when we profess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We belong to El Shaddai, The One Who does more for us than we could ever do for ourselves, God Almighty.
Oh, to be like John, the beloved, and lay our head upon the chest of our Lord and hear His heartbeat and the still small voice. To be so close to Him that we walk by faith and not by sight. To be so close that when the trials come, the attacks ensue, the accuser brings accusations and lies, we can and will endure..persevere. It is here that we learn to overcome. It is here that we learn to not be conformed to the patterns of this world. It is here where we learn to let Him define words like love and grace…..and not the world. The systems of this world are all corrupt.
It is here, at His feet and close to His heart, where we become willing to climb up on the altar and die to self. It is here where pride is crucified….where the spirit of burning comes to purify us and sanctify us. It is here where we grow to look more like Him…where we no longer look the same as we once did, but look more like Him. It is here where we learn to persevere and grow bolder in our stance against the rising tide of darkness and become the illuminating, radiant light this world so desperately needs. It is here where the dross of our lives, our mind, our will and our emotions are burned away like chaff so we can rise above the chatter and clatter that distracts. It is here that we must remain in order to receive from Him all that is ours, and understand all that our inheritance is in Christ Jesus. This is where our day of visitation will be, where we will let go of all that is worldly, and set our passion to pursue Him. Here is where we will learn to stand and defend The Truth. The Truth that sets the captives free. The Truth that burns so bright there is no doubting…no unbelief. No more leaning on your own understanding. Fully trusting in Him with all your heart because you are not only acquainted with His acts, but you are coming into a revelation of knowing Him.
Ephesians 1:17-21
“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.”
It is here where rivers of living water will begin to flow out of you (John 7:37-39, Jeremiah 17:13). Like a well, your spirit filled with His, The Bride prepared for The Bridegroom.
